    You are correct. Democrats have been some of the worst at this. ... impending legislation that is going to make an industry group a winner or loser, and they are buying and selling equities before the news. Or intevening on behalf of companies, because they are a "minority-owned business" or other reasons like that, and not disclosing that their family members own stock or are on the board of directors. The corruption is not party specific. It tends to correlate more with which party has a majority, not which party is pure.

    Perdue dumped stocks in casinos and bought pharma ... right before tourism stopped completely and the Feds began throwing money at drug manufacturers.

    It won’t. If Burr has to go, then so do the three others. Net change of one for Dems. But they’re all culpable unless there’s some nuance. Strength in numbers. I can’t even see them getting censured since I’ll bet several others of both parties have done this sort of thing.

    I think the person would finish out the term. That's what happened with the recent filling of seats in Georgia and Arizona.
    With Tillis seat already up in 2020, I doubt the system wants two seats from one state coming up at the same time.

    Each state's laws of succession are different. I have no idea what North Carolina's are, but there are plenty of Carolinians on this board who might.
