Fuck, can we please trade Trump for Cuomo?

    Thought the same thing.

    Watching Cuomo. Total leader.

Can he run for the democratic nomination? Too late?

Dr. Fauci will be on Face The Nation tomorrow. He will likely say something that cause Trump to fire him.

    No kidding.

I completely get how it can be hard to stay home literally all the time. I even posted about my understanding of the plight of the elderly in all this earlier on. But, if people want this to be anywhere near contained, and, hopefully, ended, more quickly than it would be otherwise, then they need to start doing to what they're told, and actually living the quarantines.

I cannot tell you how busy it was in my Walmart store yesterday, and frankly, I don't understand why. Other than that people are just bored and doing what they might always do in that case on days off (which is how people are currently treating the quarantines) -- go out shopping, kids and dogs in tow, even.

This, even though we have barely anything on most of our shelves, and they've most likely already shopped for whatever they would need for the next month or two, at least.

People are being really stupid, and things probably are going to get worse in large part because of it.

It is doubtful that we can "make" people stay at home in this country, but they really should start taking the quarantines seriously and do it. From what I see, so far, they are not really doing so.

I can't speak to your area, obviously, but here in the Boston area it is obvious most people are staying home as much as possible. Just the morning traffic reports on the radio make that clear. My suburban street is used as a shortcut by commuters during rush hours. Very few cars during the week and today, Saturday, I have yet to hear one go by.

Here in the Houston suburbs, I made it from my house to the University of Houston, which is downtown, in 37 minutes during "rush hour" (9 a.m.) on Thursday. When I went in for my interview two weeks ago, the same trip took me 75 minutes at the "non-traffic" hour of 2 p.m.

Every day basically looks like Sunday afternoon here. A smattering of people out in traffic, lots of yard work happening, etc. I’ve had no problem social-distancing at the grocery store. Crowds were moderate but orderly. Took my car to dealer for an oil change Friday. All the service writers are wearing gloves and the interior was wiped down with sanitizer before and after the job. No sales people on the floor, just service folks.

We basically don't have a data set. We have the Chinese figures, the accuracy of which are unknown, and we have our own which are undependable because we have just begun to test enough people to begin to assemble some data. This is a huge problem in the hospitals, because they are having to treat people as possibly infected because they can't test them to find out that they're negative - so scarce resources like masks and PPE are being wasted treating the uninfected.

Give it ten days to two weeks and you'll have more data then you ever wanted to know.

Hell, look at New York, the medical system there is beginning to collapse in real time.
