Muh Muh Muh My Corona (virus)

"For those of you that do not know me very well, I currently work in cardiology at UAB. I want to be upfront and honest about what is going on. We are currently experiencing the calm before the storm.

I have had some of the scariest conversations I hope to ever have in my lifetime. UAB is currently in war mode. We have cancelled all elective cases. We are discharging patients as quick as possible. We are trying to make beds - not because we have patients to fill them, but because we WILL have patients to fill them. We are decreasing amount of staff in hospital in the hopes of resting up the soldiers to help fight the war.

When you think of China - they were under a COMPLETE LOCKDOWN. They have had 81,000 cases. We are going to have this number by the end of the weekend if it continues to trend in the current direction — and it hasn’t even hit yet.

Think of it this way - when a large facility begins to shut down in preparation knowing they are losing MILLIONS of dollars a day - that is a scary thing. They are doing this all to prepare for something we cannot see, but know is coming. So if you want to help, stay home. Tell your kids to stay home. It’s coming."


I didn't copy the picture when I saw it, and there's no way I'll be able to return to the post where I did, but I saw a couple of pictures yesterday which were taken at another local hospital. It showed rows of hospital beds set up in the hospital's parking deck, with sheet plastic walls and dividers. They're doing all they can to prep for the incoming storm. God help us all.

Just a couple of quick notes. Reddit has r/coronavirus, which is chock full of people who know their stuff. It is continually monitored by a number of doctors and epidemiologists to remove or correct bad posts. It's a solid source with a lot of info in one place, and it is being updated continually.

I heard an epidemiologist on NPR yesterday. When she was asked about the possibility that the weather would help kill off the virus, she said that it was possible, since the C-19 is a close cousin of the common cold. Colds generally happen much less frequently in warm weather. She also said that there was some research that says that it does not like high humidity either, and that it tends to die on surfaces faster if the humidity is elevated.

I think I'm gonna sit this one out on my front porch. The humidity is 80% here. I hope there is some validity to that one.

 

Honestly, I’m unsure if I will trust the data.

They have to test all deceased.

 

I heard someone describe it as the period between the lightning and the thunder...hospitals have seen the lightning, and they know the thunder will crush them this week.

 

WHY IS HE STILL TALKING?

Jesus Christ. Hour and a half press conference every day because he needs attention. I DONT NEED TO HEAR FROM YOU! No one does. Send Fauci out - the guy who actually knows things - and have that be that.

 

I have been thinking the same thing. All these important people don't have anything more important to be doing right now?! What the flying hell?

 

If TV stopped covering these things live, he'd stop going to them. But they are too afraid to do that.

If Trump had any brains he would make Fauci his own Norman Schwartzkopf. Send him out once a day to update the public and take questions and then be done with it. But he needs to blather and spar with the media because he can't throw jis red hat Klan rallies, so THIS has become his red hat Klan rally.
