Might surpass 26,000 cases in the U.S. today. Had 2,900 a week ago.

Totally irrelevant but my mom drive a 1975 Chevy Nova for almost 15 years and my brother drive it for another 8. She won it on a game show.

As testing finally moves up from practically nonexistent to sporadic, these numbers are going to soar in the next two weeks. Any benefits from social distancing, the lockdowns in many big cities, etc. won't show up until then. I expect the American government, media and people will greet the change with solemn resolution. What? No, that's ridiculous. People will go to maximum freakout, and the Trumpists saying "it's the flu" today will be the ones at peak freakout.

Much like American Tourister Amelia Earhart luggage.
What's the thing you fear most about luggage? That it will be damaged? Or that it will be lost?
What is Amelia Earhart most famous for? For being a woman who flew around the world? Or for getting lost?

Or, as the numbers rise, people will be like, "See, social distancing doesn't work" and "if the numbers are soaring, why is everything shut down still?"

I've seen photos today of people slammed together in the mountains, people slammed on the beaches -- in California no less -- people slammed in airports, people slammed together to look at cherry trees. This is all a week and a half after the initial scare and shut everything down. This country has absolutely not gotten it regardless of numbers. It is going to be pretty ugly pretty soon I fear.

Just got an email that someone on the floor above me at work tested positive. I worked from home all but one day in the last 14, so assume that I did not get it from them.
