Muh Muh Muh My Corona (virus)

That's about as thorough a job of dragging someone as I have seen in a while. He was way too stupid on a subject that was critical.

 

Here is the alleged letter to employees. If someone stretches his imagination to its very limits, perhaps they could interpret it in the way the usual hysterical suspects are doing.

I don't read that into the letter. At all. Just the usual "God will get us through this" stuff they always say. Nothing about a "vision to remain open."

BTW, their full-time employees are paid minimum $15.75/hr and their part-time employees are paid minimum $12.50/hour. I'd guess that puts them in the top 5% of chain retailers. Full-time employees get paid sick leave. Part-timers do not --- nor do they pretty much anywhere. Part-timers at my wife's store call out sick so regularly that the manager has to overbook the schedule --- like airlines --- to account for the usual absences. One keeps calling out because she's afraid to handle merchandise from China. Yeah, we're going to pay you for that.

 

I talked to my brother yesterday. He saw and understood what was coming pretty early. He's worked at that hospital for a long time and knows many of the various managers. He was pestering them very early about what the plans were, looking at was being put in place and asking the "what about..." questions quietly with the people who ran the affected areas. They still really were not prepared. One of the things that he asked about was patient transport for the infected, and while they were still trying to figure it out they got the first positive case in the ER. My brother was in on it very early and called the guy in charge and told him it was happening, and asked what the cool plan was to get her to the ICU without infecting half the hospital on the way there.

To his credit, the supervisor made calls on the fly about how to do it, and he personally transported the patient to ICU. That's leadership in a crunch, and it is also why getting enough PPE to these workers is imperative. Look at the pictures of our nurses and compare what they are wearing to every single picture out of China. The people that they had our washing down the streets have better gear than our hospital personnel. When we lose them, and we will, we lose not just their hands but their experience and judgement. They are a precious resource to be protected. Trump's ass covering and lies, his refusal to get out in front of this thing, is going to kill lots of people.

 

Shocked, I'm telling you. Shocked.

 

Who could have known that this would happen? Other than the half of the country who looked at those beach pictures and said "OMG, these morons are all going to catch it, WTF are they THINKING???"
