One of their favorites is the forbidden C-word that throws people into vapors here, which they toss off so casually it hardly even counts as swearing in Britain. Calling somebody a "daft c-word" in Britain is roughly equivalent to calling them a "goofy mother" in the US.

We've all seen the charts comparing like days of the U.S. to Italy. At what point do we just make it New York? Man. New York alone now has more cases than France. I would imagine Florida and California start getting those numbers too, not to mention surrounding areas. The U.S. is really going to show how well we've handled it soon.

It won't be until the middle of next month before we really see if the measures taken in U.S. states have been effective or not.

It's going to be ugly by then but hopefully not as ugly as it might be otherwise. All these mass gatherings we've seen just this weekend don't lend a great deal of hope to my mind but we'll see.

I can only speak to my own area. Greater Boston seems to be largely if not wholly (no place will be) on board with the idea of staying at home, avoiding travel and avoiding others as much as possible. I have to go to the drugstore tomorrow to pick up a prescription refill. Not looking forward to it, but it will be the first time I've left the house (except for solitary walks in my neighborhood) since Friday when I hit the local supermarket at like 8 a.m.
