That's not how diseases work. If it doesn't get close to 50-50, that reflects the smaller share of the population in those states. And the Trumpiest states already have 1. Poor health conditions and outcomes compared to the national average. 2. Higher percentage of older people with higher mortality rates from the disease and 3. More rural with a lack of hospitals in general, let alone intensive care units and the equipment needed to treat the virus. Fewer people in total could be affected but with a much much higher rate of very bad outcomes including mortality.

Easter is not the answer, but I think early to mid May to get everyone slowly back out by June 1st. That’s about an eight week quarantine.

This was about flattening the curve, not waiting six months until there were not anymore cases.

Trumpist states have 48% of the nation’s total population. It’s pretty close to even. Your observations about the condition of Trumpist states are spot on.

My big fear is states lying about the number of hospitalized and deaths.

Exactly. Do we really think West Virginia has 20 cases?

You can't lie about the number of deaths by Covid-19 if you're only testing a tiny percentage of patients showing symptoms.

    Yeah.

They're not lying about anything. They have no tests, so no test results.

We'll know in a month or so.

Even the numbers we're getting from New York are measuring cases that may have taken hold two weeks ago. Every graph is a snapshot of the past.

And good luck making sense of anything you're being told by the President of the United States.

Too many people are all about "My Rights! My Freedom!", while forgetting the part about the responsibility that goes along with those.

Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson (R) gave an incredulous chuckle when he was just asked about Trump's plan to reopen the nation by Easter.

Texas county officials are stepping up with shelter-in-place orders while idiots like Abbott and Patrick dither. The metros in Texas should be fine. Outside of that, it's bye-bye gramps.

It may be hitting non-Trumpist states hard, but it's hitting the population who would have voted for Trump within those states harder. So in effect it's turning those states even bluer.

We're still in the bottom of the first inning of this thing and a bunch of red states still have yet to bat.
