Which speaks to how insanely fortunate this country has been.

Agreed. But all lucky streaks end.

I wonder about the psychological and emotional toll this is going to have as we are unable to celebrate and mourn the dead as we normally would. You can't have a funeral or wake now.

I was just writing about this on the religion thread. Grieving is an important part of dealing with the loss of a loved one and so many people aren't even able to do that properly right now.

My son had a virtual party to celebrate his engagement 10 days ago. He had friends and family video celebratory toasts and made them into a video for his fiancee. We will see more of that both to commemorate joy and grief.

I've been trying all morning to digest this post and have come to the conclusion that I should probably get off the train at this station stop.

I think my real-world problems right now outweigh trying to reason out the unreasonable. I'm anxious and concerned for my parents who have lived in an SEC state for 40 years and had three sons graduate from Florida and a daughter from Auburn; my brothers, sisters-in-law and their families, all in SEC states, and my sister, her husband and their family, in an SEC state. I have nieces at Florida, Vanderbilt and Arkansas right now.

I may not see some of them survive this. And I definitely won't be "giddy" at the loss of any innocent lives.

But most of all, I'm afraid for my wife, who beat sepsis three years ago, and for myself. I have no fear of death but I might like to hang around a little longer in case somebody throws a ball from a mound again.

Boys and girls, it's been a true pleasure. I've met some amazing, talented, intelligent people on this board, and have had the opportunity to share my stories, laugh a lot, cry a little and remember how much fun this industry was and bemoan the fact that it may never be so again.

My wife has no idea this forum exists, so if I come down with COVID-19, hopefully I can inform you all. If I make it to August and get my freedom back, I'll let you know.

Stay safe. Keep up the good fight. I am so proud of knowing you. If you ever want to say hello, find out 10 more things you probably shouldn't say in jail or play a virtual game of Prison Spades, here's my contact info.

I can't "like" this. Going to miss reading your insights on here. Wishing you and your wife and your extended family the best. I hope your "Better 2/3rds" gets a chance to enjoy her new body. Those changes feel darned good and it was great to see that she's had those life wins. Take care and be safe.

    Please don't go. Please.

If we all left because we thought a post was the dumbest thing we'd read this side of a Clay Travis tweet, there'd be nobody left on the board.

First thought: "dude just outed himself."
Second thought, after looking at real name and screenname: "Oh."

Greatly overlooked point; rarely mentioned in all the rah-rah reports from CNBC these days.

Please don't let one post, or even several posts, make you want to leave here. Your contributions are valued.

But if you do leave, thank you for your contributions (especially those jail threads).
