    One tracker has U.S. surpassing 5,000 deaths today. Two days after surpassing 3,000. Also would be the first 1,000-plus day. Other trackers are several hundred behind that, but they've usually all caught up to each other, but maybe that tracker has faulty numbers and it's not that bad. Or it really is.

    I've discovered some strange things. Tennessee, for example, didn't report yesterday. Its case count remained the same. So now it looks like a massive, overnight explosion when it's probably half of what it appears to be. Still pretty high jump over two days. Far bigger than one might expect from, for example, the seasonal flu.
