The guy really is motivated by personal animus and his remarkable insecurity over everything else. Here's the easiest chance his klan may ever have to win back a Senate seat, and he's muddying the waters to the point where a former football coach may wind up as his klan's nominee. And a former Auburn coach at that. Tide fans, almost all of whom would be inclined to vote for the Trumpist, may sit out the general in enough numbers to let Doug Jones win again. We can only hope.
