I always figured trump as a person who takes the path of least resistance and who is desperate to be ‘highly respected’. He’s mentally weak and obviously lazy. The path of least resistance seems to be that of a populist. Jared and Ivanka are about the money because that’s how the get paternal attention. But Donald needs to be adored. I figured he would become the rich kid with no friends on the playground and give out candy to buy friends.

How has the medical supply chain not be federalized? Which Republicans are making huge profits off this bidding war?

Why aren't Trump's vast (and empty) hotel properties in NYC and DC being used for patients?

    Trump is a capitalist
He likes it when states bid against each other and suppliers raise prices
He doesn’t give a shit about the common good

They're too busy fighting with their foreign creditors to not make loan payments due to the crisis.

    1) Trump isn't a capatlist. At least he isn't a free market capitalist. He is all about trying to game rigged systems, whether it has been in his personal business. ... or him as president, where he has acted dictitorial in his belief that he can manage the economy from the top down. He has used tariffs, he has given farmers subsidies, he thinks trade terms should be dictated by the government, he just signed a $2.2 trillion spending bill that has government picking winners in the capital stucture, and he has continually harranged the Federal Reserve to fix the price of money so it is cheaper than free; that is the most important price in capitalism and a free market doesn't set it. Trump is an anti-capitalist.
    2) Also, what you described isn't capitalism. States are part of the government. When the response to this is for the government to take over the market and coordinate the response from the top down, driving out private buyers. ... it's not capitalism. Even if it was, capitalism doesn't mean that everyone bids against each other and therefore suppliers raise prices. In an actual free market, prices are exactly where supply meets demand. Suppliers have no more power to dictate a price than buyers do. There would also be way more buyers than just the states helping to find an equilibrium price.

Well, he's certainly not a communist or socialist in the sense that he thinks the government should do anything at all whatsoever to benefit the citizenry -- except insofar it helps keep him in power.

Plenty of adjectives that end in "ist" to describe Trump before "capitalist."

No, that’s what Jared looks like when you put the right sunglasses on.
