For the record, we should all talk about salaries more because it helps everyone get more money. But I don't really think issue boils down to money. If he was making 30K and got axed for ripping the boss, same concept applies.

Again, I think we can all agree Maven is still the worst and Wahl is one of the best at what he does. It's unfortunate how the whole thing played out.

he should probably approach things with a little more tact. In both cases he back tracked and deleted his original tweets and in the second it cost him his job

You must not have ever made over 50k/year in your career then

How big does the cut need to be to justify being angry about it? 50%? 60%?

    Count me on Grant’s side.

That said, I wonder what’s next. The list of potential suitors has to be short. NYT? ESPN? Does The Athletic pay that kind of money, especially during the apocalypse?

I’d guess that’s about the end of the list but maybe not.

Who said he has to make that much in a new job? New job, new terms.

As for SI, he signed a contract. They wanted to cut his pay permanently. If he had won 100 awards and broken the story of the year, they wouldn't have raised his pay. So bullshit on them.

I support Wahl 100 perecent. Everybody knows SI is now owned by an horrific company. Wahl did the right thing. Maven did not.

Not sure I follow your logic. I’ve never been part of a couple that pulled in close to seven figures and then squealed because we were going to have to scrape buy on three-quarters of a mil, no. And definitely never tweeted about how bad my bosses sucked. And I worked for some giant jackasses. Guy sounds like a petulant little bitch and deserves what he got. Also, no chance I’d hire a guy who tweeted like that about his bosses.

He can be mad after $0.10. He cannot tweet about it at any level. Ever.
