The President did not "shut down" the country. He cannot "reopen" it either. If the Lexington, Ma. school committee says "our schools stay closed" the President has no, repeat no, authority to do jackshit about it. Trump can urge or recommend states lift their closures and stay-home directives, but that's all he can do. It's all he did to shut things down.
Think it through. What is he going to do. Federalize 50 state National Guards and send them all out to open and operate the malls? Have Marines teach middle school math at bayonet point? It's ridiculous on its face.

Ok, I accept your reassurances and will try to ground myself. I don't put it past him to try, put it that way.

We're at the "We're not going to fire Dr. Fauci" stage. What's the stage after that one?

Not only did Bernie endorse Biden, but the word "friend" was used, and they're going to be forming joint issues groups for the campaign.

This isn't Hillary 2.0. Bernie and Joe actually like each other, and Joe isn't going to all but ignore Bernie's suggestions like Hillary did (yes, I know she adopted a chunk of Bernie's platform at the convention, but his supporters had already gone scorched-earth by then).

If Bernie is seen as having platform input and being a part of the process it will defang a lot of the Bernie Bro problem. The question is how does that play out in real world Dem politics.

He must’ve gotten whatever it was he was asking for.

They better, unless a one-way vacation to one of the ICE concentration camps is something they think they'd enjoy.

My Sandernista friends have already gone after Biden, saying they won’t choose one rapist over another and using the same screeds you can find on Trumper message boards
Sandernistas are the mirror image of Trumpers but they will not listen to his endorsement
I am not optimistic about November

Bernie and Biden have known each other a long long time. As I have said here before, Biden's greatest political strength is that people like him personally. He makes way way more friends than enemies. That of course is not the only reason Sanders endorsed Biden today, but it counts as one of the big ones.
