How are you going to spend your stimulus money?

You all realize this is about the last money you will **ever** get from the government, if Fatfuck retains power?

  2. We're desperately trying to save right now, not knowing what the future holds. If it's not an essential, we certainly aren't buying it.

When I go out, I drink a decent amount of rail whiskey/bourboun (shot and a beer type of thing) ... and even that is usually a $3-4 a shot drink. A handle of Benchmark, which is better than most rotgut rail whiskeys/bourbons, is $20 at the ABC. Still drinking bourbon, but it's a hell of a lot cheaper to do it at home.

Alice and I spent some time at dinner last night trying to determine if lockdown had affected our routine spending (house all paid for, kids long out of college, day to day expenses and taxes are what's left). We're buying a lot of wine, but we're not going out, so no cocktails or wine at restaurant prices. We're planning meals a week at a time, and that cuts down on food spending. One tank of gas in four weeks. No golf, no haircut/hair salon trips. All told it has to be less, but maybe not a great deal less, like 10-15 percent. That is, it doesn't FEEL like a lot less, but take 10 percent out of the whole economy and it's a depression.

When the average person writes down (or wrote down, before the pandemic) every cent they spent over a period of time (week, month), the result is usually staggering to them (in terms of waste).

Why do you want to get money from the government?

I forgot one addition. Tips for delivery and takeout service people. I'm running about 40 percent tips for food, throw a tenner at the Amazon guys if I catch them.

I understand the sentiment, really, I do, but I can't help but chuckle at all the ''THANK YOUS!" (Google Doodles all week) to the delivery people, grocers, transportation people, etc.

They're working! They can pay their bills! They're in demand and maybe getting more hours than they ever dreamed of. Many are getting "appreciation pay" raises. While I certainly appreciate them, they simply won the "essential job lottery" and thus get to keep making an income. My thoughts are with other people.

If anyone here is able, it would be great to donate your check to the local charity of your choice. They're really struggling, and more necessary than ever.

Especially food banks and diaper banks. Shelters.

If you can't give a big chunk, give a little one.

And if you want to keep your local restaurants and businesses up and running, maybe pay them to make and deliver meals to your area hospitals and police stations and firehouses.

Spread that money around as best you can.

    Do good.

Just made a donation to a fund that's giving grants to laid off restaurant workers in my city. I wanted anything I gave to have local impact.
