The argument is not about the trade deal, it's that Trump soft-pedaled the virus because of the trade deal. It's a second level argument that will NOT, repeat not be the Dems' first level argument, which will be "Trump is a fuckup and that's why Nana's dead and you lost your job."

 

There is also a big chunk of the electorate that tunes into politics every couple of years like the Olympics and suddenly gymnastics, swimming and skating MATTER for a few weeks. A better play on Trump is going back to his 2016 pitch about draining the swamp, having "the best" people, making America great again and intercutting it with video of massive layoffs, constant turnover in his administration, crying kids, racial unrest and America no longer being a global leader because we've decided to step back from the world stage.

 

If circumstances stay the same by, around Labor Day or so, the Dems' best slogan is the simple, "Are you better off than you were four years ago?"
