My home has one prescription (mine) that gets filled about once every three months. I had 20 minutes to kill before getting Thai takeout so I did the drive thru at CVS since they had been texting me to get it. It’s about 10 cars, do I think two minutes a car and I should be cool. This is my first time ever in the drive thru.

I sit there for 10 minutes without budging. Freaking nothing. I’m thinking I just bail out of line when the pickup is ready.

Finally a car moves. Then everything starts to flow.

When I get up to the front I had to ask. Someone was having insurance problems.

Heh. I've always noticed that at a lot of food places (especially around lunch). Fifteen cars lined up at the drive-through, almost no one inside.

Exactly. Only a fool waits in line at a pharmacy.

Speaking of, I made a Home Depot purchase online and did my first curbside pickup yesterday.

My god, what a game changer. I'll never NOT do that again. It's so easy and quick.

This is the key to the pharmacy anywhere. Of any five customers, one is likely to have an insurance issue.

If we have 1/3 of the country unemployed and without healthcare soon, I cannot fathom socialized medicine failing in 2024 or maybe Biden tries to get it started a year or two in office.

I worked in the lab at a doctor's office. I hated insurance problems with a passion. Everything to do with it is a pain. Something as simple as "how much will it cost?" involved several calls/waiting on hold forever. Everything varies from policy to policy, any experience I had was useless as everything was fluid. The best answer was generally "call the number on the back of your card and ask", but even then patients sometimes didn't know what to ask or screwed up what they heard.

My wife did a lunch run to Chik-Fil-A. It's about 10 minutes from here. She was back in about 25 minutes. She parked and went in. She said the cars that where in the drive-thru when she got there were probably still there. That usually happens at In-N-Out, too.

Our CFA's interior is closed. Drive thru only, but they've got (and already had) a cadillac drive-thru. Two lines, several people with net connected tablets taking orders and payments. Very smooth and streamlined. They don't touch your card, they hold the scanner and you swipe or insert it. It moves quickly. That franchise is a gold mine, they put people through there fast.

Have not been to a franchise of any sort since this began, but our local pizza place has the scanner routine you describe. It's hurting because a lot of its traffic came from the nearby Air Force base and of course its personnel is restricted to base now.

DoorDash fail last night. Ordered, got delivery time, followed driver online until he got lost. Resumed tracking when he got his bearings -- 3 minutes to store .... 2 minutes to store .... 1 minute to store .... poof. Gone. Call store. No record of our order.

We have done take-out just once and it was CFA. I trust them more than any other restaurant. The three in my area all have double-drive thru ordering lines; one was closed for a while about six months ago to add that second lane -- that move looks pretty sharp now.
