Nearly fifty days of sheltering in place so far. This is not a choice or a statement. I have diabetes and a Hx of respiratory issues, so being out and around people is too risky. For some reason, the third week was hard and now things just seem like this weird new normal. My local best bud and I used to take breaks and go thrift-shopping or visit a mutual friend's very Bell, Book and Candle shop or go look at art supplies or browse the Nashville version of Powell's.

I haven't been inside a store since February. Hearing and reading people talking about empty shelves and hostility that goes beyond bedroom community annoyance at being a little too cozy makes me think I would experience culture shock if I went out now. Knowing that hangouts are all at Google or Zoom or Creative Mornings is both surreal and feels very cloistered.

Before this, I had to devote certain days and blocks of time to meetings or getting household things done for me and my family. Now I don't have to be anywhere, and even though work has intensified, I am more conscious of the extra time and now realize I need to be making use of it. Not making every blessed moment count, jut accomplishing those things I've put off.

    I approve this message.

However, I'm still waiting for my goddamn royalty checks.

Imagining a coloring book with scenes from Happy Jack’s Natco. I’d order 100 of those.

If I shower, it's a good day. I'm reading, bingeing on tv/streaming. Eating too much. I am not learning multiple languages.

I shower every day. I am more or less rising and going to bed at my pre-shutdown hours, but some days I go to bed like an hour earlier or get up an hour later, never both. Eating too much, oh yeah, but I did that before, too. Reading, being online too much, not that much more TV. Walk a couple miles every day it's been decent enough to be outside (a little more than half the days here this month).

Oscar, a virtual book club would be a good idea.

    HOLY SHIT!!

I'm working at a desk in the basement. No outside window.

The entire house -- half the city -- just got rattled by almost exactly this sound. Almost loud enough to knock pictures off the wall. Went on for 10-15 seconds.

I looked outside. Nobody seems to know a thing.

    The new normal I guess.
