NK government didn’t announce his father’s death for two days while the succession and other problems were sorted out, and that came with an actual successor. If Un’s heart surgery did go that badly (he’s diabetic, has high blood pressure and smokes 4 packs a day), the key problem is that he hasn’t designated a successor as his father had. That’s a lot of ducks to try to get in a row.

North Korea’s official TV channel doesn’t come on the air until 3 p.m. most days and it’s just short of 11 a.m. there now, so the test pattern is all that’s on right now.

China apparently just sent a team of doctors over the mountains to Pyongyang to consult with Kim’s physicians, according to Reuters, so that would appear to indicate that he’s not dead.

Probably not dead. Not yet, anyway. But not a good sign.
