Not to say I haven't dunked balls there, because I have, but IMO for a mid-to-high handicapper, 17 is like not one of the top 7 and maybe 10 hardest holes on the course. Now, if they'd give me the same discount and let me skip 14 or 8 or 7, we'd be in business.

No. 14 is a bitch. The thing about 17 is that you're thinking about it from the moment you wake up to play, not to mention the first 16 holes. And if you're playing well (eh, unlikely for most tourists there), then 17 is even more of a gut check. The thought of not playing it is just absurd -- go home and tell your buddies you played the Stadium and all they'll want to know is what you did on 17.

They've got to do maintenance on the course at some point.

For sure, and that course gets babied perhaps like no other outside Augusta. But to charge $350 as the heat picks up and not have 17, that's pretty shameless. But maybe not much tourist play anyway the next couple months.

It was $500 before 17 went out of play. It's $350 now. For a course like that, it's not outrageous. It costs $650 or so to play Pebble.

That 350 at Sawgrass for not playing the most iconic hole is dumb.
You gonna pay 500 at Pebble, but not going to be able to play the best par 3 in the world?
    Me neither.
    Yes, this one dammit.

But it's not the same course. Everyone's got their number and $350 wouldn't be it for me to play the "Home of THE PLAYERS" (Tour emphasis!) without shaking in my FootJoys on 17 tee.

A real sense of sacrifice and perspective from Hadwin and Stallings there.
