It was also easier to postpone the Olympics for a year, as it has no next season to bump up against. If it's not safe to hold them next July, sports will be the least of our worries.

So they're going to do a 600-miler and turn around and have another race three days later? Wow.

As for golf waiting, lot more logistics involved, including travel and hotels. Darlington is within driving distance of where the majority of NASCAR teams are located, Charlotte. That's why they're not going to Texas and Florida just yet.

This is a better statement than Daniels at Purdue offered because it includes the caveat about potential future issues. The Purdue declaration read like Saint Dabo of the Upstate had written it.

I'm no NASCAR guy. Hate it, in fact. But seven races in 11 days? Isn't that a bit much to expect of the drivers?

Finis St. John IV is a lawyer. Weasel words come easy for him.

A couple different series, if I read it correctly.

I don't give a damn about auto racing but seven events in two weeks is a joke.

Networks and executives assume people are just going to want to sit around on their asses and watch sports. Nuh-uh. Not this one anyway.

That ass, that sport — or both?

I'm thinking that while Fart may not be short on ass, he's way short on "dat ass".

It's four Cup races, two Xfinity and a truck race. Not sure anyone will do all of them. I think it's all too early, but Nascar is a desperate sport with sponsors that have to start getting a return on investment somehow. And the ratings should be darned good.

You don't even notice fans at race tracks the way you do at stadiums and arenas. Won't even seem all that weird for the viewer.

Only for Kyle Busch, who never met a race he won't run in.

OK. Thanks. Four big-league races in 11 days still seems like a bunch, but I doubt NASCAR drivers have a union to intercede on their behalf. And they probably don't want one.
