It was jarring to me because those noises were coming out of Daniel Craig. I'm still twitching every time I watch Fargo. For some reason, Freeman's obvious running start at sounding like he was from Chicago in Black Panther didn't distract the way his Minnesota accent does.

Dear God. Roadhouse is the movie version of that bad ex-boyfriend you don't want to talk about.

Hell no. It'd be a slog. One of the best things about Goodfellas is the pacing.

It was incredible to see Jackman act as if he couldn't dance and be 100% convincing.

Yeah it was a very good picture. Jackman's portrayal is right in with that kind of guy in early 2000s.

I've served as a board member and on the audit committee of our local education foundation (which has $4M in annual revenues) and thank goodness that there are controls all over the place so that even a $100 copier would be questioned. Really sad that those monies were taken from the schools. BTW, an administrator/superintendent crying poor is ridiculous, that guy/woman has always made top dollar and did you see he still keeps his pension?

I think the note that was slightly struck is that town relied on those schools and teachers so heavily to keep their property values high, yet to live in the community they had to steal. I’m not saying it’s right what they did and to the extent, but the jab was thrown.

And the tone deafness of the mother who was going to nag and nag until she got Johnny Average into the Omni Program was placed there for a reason. She wants everything from the schools and doesn’t give a shit about what rules needs to be broken, just like him.

I also really liked that they made the reporter just a normal, quiet student that found something and worked at it. Nothing over the top.

Those are good points about the mother and the reporter.

As for that jab; candidly I live in one of those communities and I think our superintendent (who makes a pretty good salary) could live in the community but its not easy (well if not for a fortuitous sale of prior home not sure I could). Do I wish our teachers lived in our town? That's a nicety (they did where I grew up) but the bottom line is as a parent you only care about if the teacher is good or bad, not where they live. Thinking altruistic ignores the economic realities of supply and demand. BTW don't get me wrong, I'm in the camp of I'd pay more taxes to make education better for ALL.

They just wrapped a film version of "Hillbilly Elegy", Ron Howard directing, with Amy Adams and Glenn Close. It will be interesting to see how they structured it.

It'll get a lot of flack because the book Is already controversial.

I watched Justice League Dark: Apokolips War last night. I had heard this was an ending of sorts for the DCEU and it certainly seems that way. I'm not sure exactly how to describe it. Much of it is violent and batshit crazy, but there are also some great character moments. I think the ending was a cheat and somewhat predictable, but that didn't keep me from enjoying the ride.

It depends on how it was scripted. It looks like they'll tell the story of a family who is hit by what is described in the book. Ron Howard isn't a guy who makes edgy, controversial films normally.

The only description I have comes from the Hollywood movie game site HSX:

"Based on the memoir by J.D. Vance, Hillbilly Elegy chronicles three generations of an Appalachian family as told by its youngest member, who is forced to return to his hometown. Ron Howard directed from an adapted screenplay by Vanessa Taylor ."

Joker and Bad Boys For Life.

Bad Boys For Life. About what you’d expect. Some laughs. Lots of killing. Average.

Joker. Pretty fucking good. Phoenix was absolutely born to play that role.
