Define "protect". Because after two months, I see a certain demographic dying. And that's it.

Again, all of us have learned a lot in 2 months. We are all washing. We are all wearing masks. No parties or large gatherings.

But sorry, I don't see the need for three more months of strict shelter in place.

Is there a standard for "underlying" conditions? Thyroid? Open wound stubbed toe? I'm getting exhausted by what I think is, if not you're perfect you have an underlying condition.

I'm guessing it's those conditions that cause you to be more susceptible to illness: autoimmune diseases, immune deficiency, high blood pressure, cancers, heart issues etc. Certainly not all of which cause you to be in a nursing home.

I understand where you are coming from. I have had moments of really struggling personally through all of this. It is hard. But I have for the most part been on board with the precautions. There's this element of it's been two months, the hospitals aren't overwhelmed as a result and things look better or seem to be. I respect that people a lot smarter than me say it's not time to ease up, despite the curve flattening and hospital capacity. I feel like for the most part that's enough for me even though I'm certainly conflicted, like we all probably are to some extent. My county applied to ease even further from the state restrictions. But I think, it just takes that one outbreak to through it all into chaos. It's such a weird thing all around. Who knows what is right. I posted the other day that maybe some of these businesses defying orders and states completely opening up could show us the light. Because if no big problems arise from them, maybe things will be OK. There's just so much unknown that it's impossible to really feel what we should do.

"The Minnesota Department of Health is now reporting 79 COVID-19 related deaths in the state. Kris Ehresman is an infectious disease specialist with the department of health.

“98.5 percent of those who have died have had pre-existing or underlying health conditions,” said Ehresman. “The age range of those who have died are 56 to 100 with the median age of 87.”

Ehresman says 57 of the 79 deaths have occurred in congregate care settings."

Sacramento county, CA. 1153 total cases. All 49 deaths in Sacramento County “are among those age 65 and older, had underlying conditions, and/or had other risk factors,”

I have no problem the way these restrictions were rolled out.

2 months in, I see a VERY SPECIFIC demographic dying.

Yet in LA county, we are applying the same rules as 2 months ago.

I just watched a video from a local cosmetologist on my Facebook. Heartbreaking. Her career, her livelihood has been thrown in the trash heap.

Again, who are we "protecting " here?
