Eric Trump went on Judge Drunky last night and proclaimed C19 was a hoax designed to keep a Daddy from holding rallies and would miraculously disappear after Election Day.

For it to do any good in stemming the spread of the virus - the 'stay the fuck home' part of the intervention - they needed to see that 6 grand in March. Not May. Not June.

Too little too late to save people OR the economy.

    Sure.

But you can't divorce its performance from what's being said by leadership.

If we report an incoherent administration, we sound incoherent.

    Go figure.

But is that temperature, or is it because when it's warm people are outside more, where the virus transmits less efficiently? They don't know. The ratio of unknowns to knowns about Covid-19 has to be 10 to 1, and that's just the big questions, not the important details of those questions research can address to form answers.

About all we seem to know about the virus that's of use to the general public are 1. It's really bad. 2. It would be one hell of a lot worse without the social distancing measures we've undertaken. 3. There's a ton of research being done on treatments and vaccines but we need to understand that for scientists, especially medical ones, "promising" doesn't mean "answer right around the corner" but "here's something that can lead us to the next step, question number two." The rest, from effect of warm weather to possibility of a real second surge in the late fall, are just guesses, albeit some guesses more informed than others.
You know what, I can't even blame Trump too much for that idiotic tweet. He is a creature/victim of television, which for my entire long life has divided medical news into the following two categories 1. Horrible new thing that will kill you and yours if you go outside. 2. Miracle cure announced guaranteeing immortality.

They talk about how summer heat will stop the virus like the world does not have a southern hemisphere where summer is just ending. While most of the countries hardest hit are north of the equator, Brazil is #4 on the list of most reported cases. I don't think that there is any doubt that South America and Africa will see their infection levels jump as they enter "cough and cold season", but it's not like we can't look at their numbers and see that Covid-19 spread quite well through their summer.

Africa may not be equipped to “flatten the curve.” AIDS was previously a very big problem in Africa, as well, for that reason.
