Was there ever any doubt this was going to happen? President Trump chose to risk the health of those cadets to feed his own ego. He put his own self-glorification ahead of the good of the troops. There is no other way to look at it.

Typical of him to lob shots and then go run back behind mama's petticoats.

I do not believe in your philosophy.

I don't mind your posts/thoughts at all. They're as legitimate as anything else, and more pertinent to most people than are the direst views.

I also wouldn't make light of "missing friends." Social isolation, for most people, is not a good or positive thing. I'd also contend that it is the young and old who are feeling the most fallout outside of dying. Landmarks and milestones in people's lives are indeed important, and part of what makes one thing matter and another not. They lend value to our lives, and our efforts.

One of my brothers' sons also is a high school senior -- a very accomplished kid who speaks three languages and was to be co-valedictorian of his class at a school with a baccalaureate program in which he was fully involved before school let out in mid-March. He has been wait-listed for entrance to Cal, his dream college, and, at this point, is likely to attend UC San Diego to major in international studies. He worked incredibly hard all through high school to get to this point, and he, too, recently lamented what, essentially, has been a lack of closure to a very important, intense part of his life. "Walking across a stage" may not have meant much to someone else. But to him?

And not only that. Now, the lines are looking like they're going to be blurred as far as what will happen to his freshman year of college, and when, too. Like dq's daughter, he went through a period of real depression recently, and it wasn't chased away by his parents' efforts to celebrate his recent 18th birthday and his school efforts with lawn signs, balloons and a banner across the garage that left him more embarrassed than happy. Long story short, online learning has lost its charm, and had done so after about the first two weeks of it.

I've also watched my elderly mother age more in the past three months than she ever has before, and I'm convinced it's because of loneliness and the lack of stimulation compared to her previously active social life, with many friends, and family and church gatherings that are no longer happening.

Granted, "we'll live," and, hopefully, get through these seemingly relatively trivial times, and issues. But I don't think such things should necessarily be minimized. We shouldn't make people apologize for not having died, like some people have, or for generally not having had it as bad as somebody else.

The whole problem with COVID-19 is that there is not really any timeline, or any end in sight. That is what's making some of this stuff seem untenable. Without landmarks, milestones, and time frames, life loses its meaning, people lose their senses of time and direction, along with, eventually, their will, as every day becomes like any other, and nothing is worth anything, again with no end in sight.

It may not be death. But it is not good.

There's nothing to clarify. This is a difference on how to meet aggression.

Which is all this administration has ever been about: aggression.

And I will call a pig what it is.

Your message was so unclear, I actually had to ask who you were talking about. You are allowing your rage to control you. It's not a good look.

There were approximately 1,000 cadets in the Class of 2020.
So that works out to about 15 people.

I have only been on this “forum” for a short time, but you seem much angrier than many others, including 3 Octave Fart. I think he is just playing with you.

Please do not take offense. You also make many good points!

That is 15 new infections, with the potential of passing it on to others, that were not necessary. Their health was put at risk for the sake of President Trump's ego. Also, it is no sure thing that those are the only infections that will come out of that event.

Your thoughts are noted and given the lack of concern they are due, sock puppet.

I'm not playing with him at all. I think he's a dick and have thought that for some time now.
