They think he's been saved. I have heard this justification with my own ears.

They don't give a shit about the adultery and horrendous personal conduct because they see it as having occurred pre-salvation.

It's a simple explanation but the American evangelical is a simple creature with complicated needs.

 

They've morphed from Evangelicals to Christian Nationalists.
