This is largely how I feel about the protests going on now. People either are expecting them, and the inherent unrest, to go on indefinitely (unlikely), or to have them cause immediate reform in police departments across the country (also unlikely).

Such things take time, unfortunately. Everything is going to have to happen on an individual level long before any official, systemic procedural and attitude changes -- even if they are widely drawn up in policies, and enacted -- are likely to ever occur.

Simple human decency is what will have to prevail.

There's a CrossFit in the next town. The clients are always jogging on the dangerously narrow highway.

Yeah. They did away with them a couple of months ago. It was a good thing.

I'll say this - this week a number of Confederate monuments have quietly been removed all over Alabama. While there was some grumbling on Facebook and the odd idiot white supremacist taken into custody, there really hasn't been a big stink made about it. Minnesota was bad enough to make a dent even here.

Oh, this was a substantial win. It took a couple of years and a heinous murder to get it done. Kyle was down there when two reporters were arrested and another was punched out and his wallet stolen last week. He's been on this forever.
