    May[edit]
On May 6, researchers at Arizona State University and University of Arizona were instructed to halt their work on a public model for COVID-19 in the United States. Their model had recommended against any reopening before the end of May.[32] Arizona Department of Health also stated that the modeling team would no longer be allowed access to special data sets used for this work.[33] The state announce that it would be using FEMA's model for COVID-19 predictions, although the department also declined to reveal the results of the model.[32]

On May 12, Gov. Ducey announced that the stay at home order would be lifted May 15 and that gyms and pools could begin reopening on May 13.[34]

On May 15, the statewide lockdown order expired. There were 13,169 confirmed cases and 651 deaths related to COVID-19 in Arizona.[35] Gov. Ducey stated that Arizona was in compliance with the CDC's Phase One guidelines and that businesses would be allowed to reopen with social distancing measures. Major league sports were allowed to reopen without fans and only in leagues adhering to CDC guidelines.[35]

    June[edit]
Two weeks after the stay-at-home-order expired, the state reported a record high of daily hospitalizations suspected to be related to COVID-19, with 1,009 hospitalizations recorded on Mon, June 1.[36][37]

On June 3, there were 22,223 cases and 981 deaths related to COVID-19, as reported by the Arizona health department. Over 345,000 tests for COVID-19 had been performed (nearly 250,000 PCR tests and over 100,000 antibody tests). About 5.7% of tests returned as positive for COVID-19.[38]

By June 8th there was 27,678 cases and 1,047 known deaths[39] and the Arizona Department of Health Services director, Dr. Cara Christ, told hospitals to 'fully activate' emergency plans[40].

Just looked at the Hopkins model. Seems like the rez counties and the far southwest of the state near the border is in the worst shape, though Phoenix is trending in the wrong direction.

All excited about Oregon entering Phase 2 - which only limits indoor gatherings to 50 (100 outdoors) - bad news, Phase 3 (No restrictions) isn't happening until there is a vaccine or COVID isn't deemed a threat.

    WHO's on first?

WHO: 40% of coronavirus cases spread by asymptomatic carriers - Technology & Health

The World Health Organization (WHO) released statistics Tuesday estimating that as many of 40% of coronavirus patients contracted the disease from an asymptomatic carrier.

According to the WHO, a minority of 16% of people who contract the coronavirus are asymptomatic, but they infect others at a higher rate than those who become ill from the disease.

The WHO appeared to backtrack from its assertions yesterday that asymptomatic rarely spread the coronavirus to others.

WHO technical lead for coronavirus response Maria Van Kerkhove stated Monday that "from the data we have, it still seems to be rare that an asymptomatic person actually transmits onward to a secondary individual."

Kerkhove said that governments should focus on identifying people who display symptoms of the coronavirus and putting those who come in contact with them into isolation

This is damning. Scientists were working on a model that would recommend restrictions. The Trumpist governor couldn't have that. No way. So the study was stopped.
Nice Party of Life you've got there.

I have a little “theory”: It is not that easy to tell between “asymptomatic” and “mildly” ill COVID 19 patience.

Remember when MLB was supposed to be playing all its games in Arizona because everything there was A-OK?

Yeah, it’s important to have grace for the WHO.

But each anwser is politicized. And there are of course people who seemingly believe in an angry virus, out to get people with the wrong, anti-progressive morals.

I do not think the COVID 19 virus has thoughts.

And the latest (through Monday) from what Charlie Pierce calls The Newly Insane State of North Carolina:
The county that's home to the Trumpist race track is among the state's leaders in new cases this month.
Alamance County, 17th in population, was 24th among the state's 100 counties in Trumpandemic cases through May 24, the day after the track held its first race of the season. In new cases diagnosed in June, Alamance is 10th with a bullet. It reported 63 new cases on Monday. That's not only its highest single-day total to date; by itself, it's higher than the total of any two consecutive days.

Consider Alamance and one of its (sorta) neighbors, Davidson County. Both have populations of 1.6% of the state's total.
