    No, it doesn’t.

The government isn’t tearing those statues down, after all.

We’ll see how much interest white America really has for the kinds of effort and generosity that doesn’t come with anarchy flair and a checklist of movies and books to post.

Trumpists aren’t going to change. They are doubling down in support of their klan leader. The only way to affect change is to vote Trumpists out.

Actually, in many cases it is the government taking the statues down.

They should suggest renaming Fort Leonard Wood in honor of Benedict Arnold just to piss this guy off. After all, it's OK to name military installations after traitors to the United States.

We've CLOSED military bases named after great military leaders. But renaming them is a big deal?

FLW has stonework done by Nazi POWs, including some done for the black officers’ club.

Most of those statues were built during the time of Jim Crow, with the intended effect of perpetuating a type of status quo that was designed to terrorize blacks and constantly remind them that they were second-class citizens. We are still living with the remnants of what that did to the country. What still lies beneath the surface is the fuel for the protests right now.

For years people have been decrying what those statues symbolize, how offensive they are to a segment of people, and trying to get localities to take them down. Yet those Southern cities and states have continually refused. That refusal was indicative of the systematic problems that people started protesting.

Nobody who is a member of a racial minority and feels they are systematically treated poorly and discriminated against, needs you to define what the "real help" they need is. If you can't listen to them, or are incapable of understanding, at least don't insist on telling them what they need.

People like Trump and Caligula are the reason Shelley wrote "Ozymandias." Okay, it was actually Ramesses II, but I think my point stands.

I try not to let him get under my skin. He lives for attention. If he can't be adored, he'll settle for upsetting people. Either way, he's thought of and talked about, he's feared, loathed, noticed. Look at what passes for "good" in his parlance: toadying obeisance, being of some use to him by dint of connections, ability, or access to resources. He mistakes all of this for friendship, devotion, or respect because he doesn't know what any of those things mean.

I hope the follow up was -- why do you think that based on his schedule this week?
