    You want to judge Thurmond by his time? He filibustered civil rights legislation. Legislation that passed overwhelmingly in both houses.

    I've mentioned before that too often the worst people who are on the definitive "wrong side of history" are able to slink off into anonymity. I think we should always remind ourselves of the scoundrels who have made major decisions to the detriment of our country. So keep Thurmond's statue up and remind people he led the longest fillibuster in Senate history to defend racism. Let that be his legacy.
