Going to guess yes. Governor likely wouldn't have approved it in Charlotte after saying no to Trump/RNC for the August convention.

They have plausibility in the COVID department. Sullivan County, Tennessee has added only 10 or so cases in the past two weeks and the city of Bristol, Virginia has had four all-time.
This definitely provides the grounds for the definitive "what a difference a mile makes" story. Virginia has and will have more restrictions than Tennessee. Wouldn't allow 30,000 in Richmond, for example.

Isn't 30,000 not terribly far from what Bristol had been drawing in recent years? The 146,000 seats are perfect for social distancing and that's about it. I regret not getting there years ago when it was sold out and a tough ticket.

And an underrated detail of that story is no coolers, only a small soft-sided clear bag with food and beverage. You do not mess with a racing fan's coolers.

No flea market flags. No coolers.
What's next, cars that look just alike, the stamping out of mechanical creativity to make your car better than your opponents, and whiny little drivers?

No, the latest outrage is over this:

Looks like an Aussie Supercars paint scheme to me.

It ain’t wrong, it’s just different, but fans’ pride won’t let them say things to make you think that it’s right.

A bunch of guys driving around a short track with no points and only a decent sized purse at stake. This is going to be insane.

As one comment said, "Nascar -- fixing things that ain't broken since 2004"

I don’t see the problem. They’re already trying this in K&N or whatever that series is now.

It’s not that far from this, which is fine.

And then when you take a closer look at the image, you saw what NASCAR did there. :D

I quit having much of an opinion on NASCAR paint jobs about the time they quit being actual paint jobs.
I'm indifferent about this idea whether it's for The Winston (yeah, I said it) or the whole season.
The cynic in me sees this as fishing for sponsors because the logo will be just a little more prominent.
They better keep the numbers prominent seeing as how even top drivers don't have consistent sponsors and paint schemes. If you can't see the numbers, everyone watching will be busy trying to figure out who's who.

New Hall of Famers: Dale Jr., Mike Stefanik, and from the Pioneer era Red Farmer.

Ricky Rudd was third in the modern era vote and Neil Bonnett fourth. Fan vote went to Bonnett, Junior, and Farmer. The Landmark Award recipient is the late Ralph Seagraves, who so effectively tied tobacco to NASCAR via Sports Marketing Enterprises and also hooked up Piedmont Airline with Richard Childress back in the day..

Junior … I’m just not sure he’s worthy. No titles and all those lost years in his prime when he insisted that the in-way-over-his-head Tony Eury Jr. just had to be his crew chief and ended up running in woefully underprepared race cars as a result.

Is there not a waiting period?
He's worthy. It's a museum at the end of the day, and he certainly was one of the most famous drivers of his era.
