I'll probably regret pointing out a couple of facts, but f it:

In 2003, Texas U.S. Rep. Shelia Jackson Lee complained because there weren't any ethnic names used for hurricanes.
In 2020, people complain because the name of some syrup sounds ethnic.

These are the facts. Do with them what you will. You can't please everybody.
For the record, I'd be happy to do away with hurricanes, and I buy store brand syrup.

As Rust Cohl said... the light is winning.

    Remember how dark it was.

    Gotcha.

I never ate it as a child so I never saw the 70s or earlier boxes.

If we get rid of Aunt Jemima, can we bring back Marylin Chambers for Ivory Snow?

I don’t recall anyone eating Cream of Wheat in Canada growing up. The first time I saw or heard of it was in a porno.

I won’t link it but if you google Night Dreams porno Cream of Wheat you get quite the scene.

Better eat it before it gets cold.

I won't comment on Shiela Jackson Lee or the naming of hurricanes.

But "Aunt Jemima" isn't just a name. The character was a racist stereotype that originated in hurtful minstrel shows that lampooned black people as lazy, ignorant and buffoonish.

    Old Aunt Jemima - Wikipedia

I am not the most politically correct person around. You just don't have to stretch very far on this one. The origin of that brand, the name, the picture was an overt racist trope.

I was trying to figure that out, too. I thought she is an old white woman, too. A much more recent advent, too, than the ones we are talking about.

Heh. She's a clear plastic (formerly glass) bottle that looks ethnic because it's filled with dark syrup.
