I suspect if they did require masks, half the people would eventually cheat and pull them under their nose (or lower).

This is one of those industries — publishing, arenas are others — in which consumers typically don’t pick the merchant because of the merchant. They pick the merchant because of the product. (People won’t buy a book because it’s published by Simon and Schuster; they’ll buy it because of the subject matter or author. ) Will be interesting to see if people treat this any differently.

I don't think there is any chance our state will go to Phase 3 on its expected date (June 26), which would open movie theaters. Much better chance it goes back to Phase 1.

Movie theaters are one where I wonder if they truly come back from this. As we've seen from bars and beaches and race tracks there has been some pent up demand, but theaters were struggling before this and now will people go out and flock to be in close proximity to people in a relatively small space? Time will tell.

It kind of depends on how much of a "break" the movie companies are willing to give them. Like, its not that I have a ton of sympathy for the Regal Chain, because like Blockbuster and Barnes & Noble before them, they drove out most of the smaller outfits with their expansion. But most of the theater chains have been forced to raise prices to make a similar profit because of things like increased rights fees for movies, being forced to carry Shitty Movie X on 10 screens if you want The Avengers later in the summer, etc.

Gotta give Tennessee credit. It won't let Florida be the stupidest state without a fight.

Is Tony Fauci hanging around just on the hope that a different administration would give the scientists another crack at getting things done right? It's clear that the Oval Office now has made it clear its philosophy is, "We don't care what you believe or what you say."

    Tennessee 509 COVID-19 deaths (1 for every 13,400 people).
    California 5,362 COVID-19 deaths (1 for every 7,460 people).

The numbers are NEVER going to back up your claims.
