Will COVID-19 be the needle that finally bursts the sports bubble?

The NFL has canceled the Hall of Fame game, and Hall of Fame weekend as a whole.

This isn't trending in the right direction.

 

It is, in that they are getting in front of what needs to be done and pulling the trigger early.

 

One more time . . . why not wait for the test results before the "final group" is allowed with the rest of the team?

What's the point of testing if you're not going to wait for the results before everybody gets together?

I remember the same thing I think with Alabama. Arrive one day, get tested, start workouts . . . three days later positive tests come. WTF?

Keep the players safe by moving fans back, but the other 60,000 people plus concession staff and security are just cannon fodder?

There is NFW there is going to be 60k for any Ram game this year.

Zero chance.

 

I pulled 60,000 from the league average size for stadiums minus a random amount for those losing seats. But that said, not really the point. It could be a Trump-in-Tulsa sized crowd, it still is hypocritical to keep players safe by creating a bubble but let's cram as many people in the remaining seats as will come.

 

The scary thing is that there are still several NFL markets in which people will risk their health and that of those they purport to know and love to attend a game.
