It doesn't have "In God We Trust" but this has been the leader in the clubhouse for new Mississippi flag for a while. Although, I do think this picture has it flying upside down

Thanks. Remember the moment but not the name. Turned out to be the convenient excuse to whack the internally promoted assistant and hire the reprobate with the bigger name.

How about something with a magnolia tree, like SC does with the palmetto tree. Well scratch that, since that was Mississippi's state flag when it succeeded from the Union, before the Confederacy was officially formed.

That was one of the suggestions floated out there.
I think another just had the state seal with "In God We Trust" on it in the middle on a red, white and blue background. It looked boring, but after all of this we could probably all do with 100 years of boring.

I saw an article a few weeks ago that demanded that any former Confederate state that had a flag using the colors red, white, and blue and/or had a star on it - Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Texas, Arkansas, Tennessee, North Carolina, Missouri - was racist and should change its flag. Uhhhhh, no.

If the proposed one gets rejected at the ballot box, every graphic-design teacher in the state should make the creation of a new one the class project. The sad truth is that the ultimate choice will be basically blank except the words.
They should use this as the chance to put as many small icons as they can on it to celebrate elements that make the state distinctive or give it points of pride.

One of the four stars in the center of the Arkansas flag is to honor the Confederacy.

From a PR standpoint, they should go to some lengths to announce that the shade of red they choose is different from the Confederate red. Truth is that you can't have a flag anywhere with neither red, nor white, nor blue.
All 49 state flags -- pending Mississippi's ultimate verdict -- have red and/or blue. There are 35 with red and 45 with blue and 31 with both. In almost every case, the blue is a dark blue.

The three stars on the Tennessee flag are for the three Grand Divisions, which are legal geographic regions of the state. It has nothing to do with the Confederate States of America.

Out of context, the Grand Divisions sound like the management structure of the Klan.
