Whitlock out at Fox Sports

Whitlock's latest column reveals more about the horrible persecution faced by everyday Christians. The best is when he refers to the "sexual perversions" of Hollywood.

Yeah, it's a brutal read.

 

A lot of Whitlock’s analysis in this regard is fairly accurate - Twitter is pretty hostile to broad celebrity Christianity- but so it goes. It’s not new, either.

Christianity generally faces its biggest threat from people who call themselves Christians but pick and choose doctrine like it’s a buffet.

 

Honest question: Do you find anything about Jason’s newly-professed Christianity sincere?

 

It's on brand. It's a requirement for anything appealing to the SEC klan, which is the Clay Travis crowd.

 

Such as Jason Whitlock?

 

Well said. Their buffet is generally light on the traditional meat of the doctrine such as respect of one's fellow human. Instead, it's big on anger and the notion that Jesus is an angry warrior rather than the advocate of love. That guy? He's an effeminate loser.

"Satan preaches brotherly love in order to hold men in apostasy,” McIntire told FitzGerald. Therefore, he said, aggression “is an expression of Christian love.”91

(I've probably cited that passage a time or two, but it's why the evangelical Trumpists must be stopped.)

They helped get him elected. They host him at his klan rallies in Phoenix. They host Pence in one of their megachurches in Dallas, complete with unmasked choirs. They stand around him at the Resolute Desk and place their hands on him in prayer for things like caging and deportation of immigrants.

The damage they could do in a second, unregulated term, could be disastrous.

 

Mr. Whitlock's sudden Christianity may or may not be sincere.

But for sure the only thing worse than posting on Twitter is writing about posting on Twitter.

 

Yeah, god forbid.

 

Why bother?

What appears on Twitter is representative of . . . Twitter.

The "column" in question is a stinker. A series of preconceived grievances linked by nothing but Mr. Whitlock's need to generate a paycheck.

If Mr. Whitlock were actually interested in Terry Crews or social media's foreclosure of Christianity, he might have interviewed Terry Crews or called someone like Krista Tippett, for whom social media has widened the prospects and possibilities of faith.

 

One day, when you're his editor, you can suggest he do that.

 

I can also suggest it as a reader.

The sadness of Mr. Whitlock is that he might have amounted to something.

 

Or talking about Twitter on talk radio.

So Jason has finally pulled the oldest card in the book- he's found God.
