There are probably enough "career AAA guys" stashed on most MLB rosters that this won't be a necessity in a 60-game season ... although I too am becoming pessimistic that it can even start.

Um, yeah, the league's theme song mentions Cracker Jacks so timeliness is not in its M.O.

Yeah. But if this fails, it’s the fault of the libruhl media’s cancel culture campaign.

Schedule released -- and it's not balanced. Teams don't play an equal number of games home/away within division and don't play the same number of interleague games. For instance:

Rockies play seven games at Arizona, but have seven at home against San Diego. They've got six at home against San Francisco, but six at the Dodgers.

For interleague, they have six against the Rangers, four each against Oakland and Houston and three against the Angels and Seattle. Seattle doesn't come to Coors and the Rockies don't go to the Angels, despite making two trips to SoCal to play the Dodgers and one to play the Padres.

I read that each team plays six games against their natural rival, which I guess for the Rockies is the Rangers.

Other that LA-LA, NY-NY, Chi-Chi, SF-Oak and maybe StL-KC, do teams have natural rivals in the other league? I know I get excited for Rockies-Rangers and Padres-Mariners,

    "Natural" rivals

    Rockies-Rangers
    Padres-Mariners
    Astros-Diamondbacks
    Blue Jays-Phillies
    Red Sox-Braves
    Tigers-Reds
    Indians-Pirates

I know it’s not possible for every franchise to have a true natural rival in the opposite league...the Astros moving to the AL screwed it up for them and the Rangers, for instance.

But how in the hell are the Indians and Reds not natural rivals? Those two need to play each other and let the Tigers and Pirates play each other instead.

Or play two five-game series against teams in your division and two two-game series for interleague.

For the Rockies: Take a week and play five games at San Francisco and two at Oakland. Five at the Dodgers and two at the Angels. Plus, it cuts down on the travel.

Whatever. As mentioned, they won't get to 60. Might not get to one.

Cleveland is actually closer to Pittsburgh than it is to Cincinnati. Detroit is a little closer to Cincinnati than it is to Pittsburgh. The way MLB scheduled it actually cuts down a bit on travel compared to your suggestion.

I don't know if there is really any great rivalry among the teams either way, but there is definitely one between the cities of Pittsburgh and Cleveland, which are barely more than two hours apart.
