Sounds like the easiest way to Bryson-proof a course is to put down a bunker or water hazard at 350 yards on every par-5.

I can't remember which one of the commentators said this, but he said DeChambeau's swing looks like what would happen if you gave a driver to an NFL offensive lineman and told him to swing as hard as he could.

One thing about that Detroit course. It was very flat. Memorial is not. Harder to keep in the fairway, unless of course it rains, which is always possible.

DeChambeau now the betting favorite in all the majors this year. Never mind that he hasn't finished higher than 15th in 11 majors since turning pro and has missed the cut in five of those.

Look, please understand how HARD it is to hit a fairway, from 300 let alone 340. Even Detroit is nothing like your local muni or resort course in Myrtle Beach, it’s damn hard. Watch the long driving contests, those guys (and women) are cranking it 360 or so in air but they’re given almost a 3x as wide “fairway” and they can barely get 2 out of 10 in play. What Brysons doing is amazing whether it’s DGC or some other PGA Course.

See also: What is seen at a long-drive contest.

Bryson is now teeing it really high like the long drivers do, but to my eye it appears that his driver is standard length ... a little surprised given his penchant for science and knowing that a longer club could create more speed and power (Gary Player, for example, played with clubs an inch longer than men's standard). Also ... DeChambeau has to try to land those drives on normal fairways, not the long-drive "fairways" that closely resemble airport tarmacs on turf.

Maybe this'll change, but right now there's no need to do anything to toughen course setup when the object of all this settles in this week at No. 112 in the PGA Tour driving accuracy stats.

I'm not saying that what he did wasn't an exceptional feat, it was. But favorable conditions also helped a bit. DeChambeau is to be congratulated for taking maximum advantage of those conditions.

EVERY time this idiotic "Back On The Tee" commercial comes on for the PGA Tour, it makes me want to puke.
We get it. You're back playing now.

Well, they're not really back until the Big Cat shows up next week ... maybe he can talk to young Bryson about dealing with all those pesky cameramen. As in, being an effing pro.

or hire a goon to fuck to fuck up the cameraman like Tiger did.
