Sam Kerson, 73, who now lives in Quebec, when contacted by the Valley News said he was unaware of the decision to “paint over” his stylized historic depiction and told the paper that he had been contacted by the college:

"They wanted to enlist me (to support) the group that wanted to take the mural down, which of course I didn't want to do," He said the mural "is a monument to abolition in Vermont and a (graphic depiction) of the people who struggled against slavery, and it is important to our culture."

"To paint it over is outlandish — it's like burning books !" Kerson exclaimed.

It’s is like watching George Orwell’s novel “1984” coming to life before our eyes and it is frightening !

    Burlington Free-Press story:

SOUTH ROYALTON — Vermont Law School plans to paint over a mural that was originally intended to honor African Americans and abolitionists involved in the Underground Railroad after some school community members said the depictions are offensive, the school said.

Students and alumni have raised concerns about the mural in the student center, which was painted by then-Vermont-based artist Sam Kerson in 1993, VLS president Dean Thomas McHenry said in a email to the school community this week, according to the Valley News.

"The depictions of the African-Americans on the mural are offensive to many in our community and, upon reflection and consultation, we have determined that the mural is not consistent with our School's commitment to fairness, inclusion, diversity, and social justice," McHenry said in the email.

This has to be wrong. In the likely event that it is deleted and replaced, the original tweet says D. Jackson met with "an anti-Semitic group yesterday and a Holocaust survivor today. He's trying to educate himself."
I presume Schefter meant to say that Jackson's meeting yesterday was with the ADL or a similar organization that combats contempt of Jews.

No idea where to put this. This is the guy who was Tucker Carlson's lead writer.

It's juuuuust a tad all fucked up, weird, scary kinda shit. Rock on Blake, fly that flag:

Some Date Labbers call for a bit more care than others when being matched. Take Blake Neff. A South Dakota native, the 27-year-old cable news writer is ambivalent about all things Washington. “I would not necessarily oppose this city’s destruction by nuclear fireball, even if I am in it at the time,” he wrote in his Date Lab profile. He dates rarely and, as an “old-fashioned” soul, is appalled by many of the sport’s modern conventions, such as dating apps and casual hook-ups.

    But wait, there's more!

The evening began with a slight hiccup. Blake was running late, so McKenzie went to chill out in the bar with a cocktail. When Blake arrived, one of the first statements out of his mouth was that he regards alcohol as “poison.” McKenzie’s first thought: “Yikes!”

He has hobbies that "allow him to escape women" he says in his profile. Huh.

Got this right on another level, Blake:

Blake is keeping his expectations low. As he told me, “Things could totally blow up going forward.”
