I miss sports and I'm enjoying the hell out of the Premier League restart. It's going to hit home in the fall when the daily rhythms of watching football on Saturday are interrupted.

 

They’re not even punting. They’ve come out of the huddle on third and long, stepped up to the line of scrimmage, looked over at what faced them … and then called time out to reset the play clock.

 

No, none of them. And I think it's bad form even talking about relaunching them with 135,000 people dead, some of whom were stacked in cold-storage warehouses at one point for lack of space. Like they were beef cutlets.

Sports are supposed to be a reward. That has not been earned.

I think that every high school has to shut down football. I read that if you are 16 to 21 and you get COVID your chances of death are about 1 in 1,000.

So if you are a district with 4,000 kids high school students and a 25% infection rate occurs the one kid dies. Given the infection rates that schools like Clemson are seeing when they started workouts how can a group of elected officials take the risk that high school teams comes down with infections and spreads it to the student body.

And you argue that it will be only one of two kids but still, how can you risk the health of your student body for any high school sport?
