15K new cases in Florida today.
DeSantis isn't Trump. He knows what he's doing. I guarantee at least once a day he locks himself in a room and asks, "How do I get out of this?"

More like he looks in the mirror and says to himself, "Jesus, I'm so fucked."

No, he does not. Ron DeSantis isn’t intelligent enough to have introspective moments like that.

Worse, FTN today spent 30 seconds on Roger Stone. More journalistic malpractice.

They were minor players who were hoping that their campaigns would catch fire in a crowded field. They hadn’t done so before SC and that state was the final nail in their coffins. They are centrist candidates who far preferred Biden to Bernie and wanted to clear the field before Super Tuesday because they knew that they would be only be siphoning away votes overwhelmingly from their preferred candidate.

It was a pragmatic decision and they acted rationally. Voters have free will — if the Mayor Pete voters wanted to vote for Bernie, there certainly was nothing preventing them from doing so. If you are Bernie or a Bernie supporter, find a reason for those voters to support you, either on policy or electability grounds. At the end of the day, he never made his case beyond his base at the start of the race.

Bloomberg's candidacy went nowhere and it wasn't like Mayor Pete and Klobuchar were suddenly going to look good to black voters - they had more to lose than gain (cabinet jobs) by staying in. Though I doubt Klobuchar would even get a sniff at AG after the Floyd death. Warren losing her home state sealed her fate, and if she hoped to get anything accomplished in the Senate (she's only in her second term), staying in to help someone she accused of saying a woman couldn't win wasn't going to happen.

The Stone pardon was Trump's waving the white flag. He knows he's going to lose, why make his buddy spend four months in prison just to avoid a pre-election get out of jail free card.

He's got the same thick-headed stubbornness we've seen out of so many clowns in public office these recent months: your policies need no basis in logic or sensibility, and never concede you might be ever be even a little wrong.

Also, Warren remained in the race until after Super Tuesday. When Massachusetts went for Biden, she knew the game was over and withdrew. So that left it a two-person race, which Bernie could never win. A strategy that depends on other candidates pursuing a lost cause when their money is drying up and they're becoming objects of pity/ridicule is not a very smart strategy, but it was that of the Sanders' campaign.
