Tough day for Trumpists. Their boy has backed down.

 

My school board met and voted last night on what we are going to do about starting school. One of the members' nephew just died of COVID. He was pretty impassioned. Two others members we citing GOP and specifically DeVos talking points almost verbatim.

 

What was the vote? Coming back or distance learning?

 

We are starting on time, baby! Regular instruction.
The fact that the county and state has had record numbers each of the last three days .... forgetaboutit.
Teachers who test positive but are asymptomatic, have your ass at work.
Teachers ... yeah, we know you have a contract that says you start work at 7:45 and have duty free lunch ... forgetaboutit. You be in your room to hold kids for bus duty EVERY DAY at 7:15, and they will be eating with you in your rooms.

 

That really sucks. My best to you and your colleagues. I sincerely hope you guys come out OK.

 

One thing schools and teachers can do, at least when it’s not too hot, is take their classes outdoors as much as possible in September/October. If the school governments are making the kids and teachers attend.
There’s nothing they can do about busses, however.

 

The piece of advice I got from an HVAC engineer is to put a fan on one window or door to blow air in from the inside and put a second fan on an opposite door or window to blow air out. In that way, air doesn't recirculate, but August, September, October in California will make the room hot in the afternoons then we'll freeze latter part of October into December in the mornings.

 

That's an underrated issue. Trumpists are bellowing for high school footbawwwl, but they're unwilling to address if there will be enough busses to permit social distancing for visiting teams.

 

Let's give her some credit. Michelle Obama never said anything like that.
