Sports logos

I have a VooDoo jersey. Some quarterback named Fitzgerald, No. 16. Was in New Orleans a year or two post-Katrina, after or right around the time the team folded, and it was on sale at the Riverwalk Mall for $10. Couldn't pass it up.

 

I know of somebody who might put you in the wall for saying that.

 

In general, you're very right. But occasionally there is a success story. I know people are nostalgic for Bucco Bruce and the Creamsicle uniforms, but this was a tremendous upgrade:

 

In the mid-90s a bunch of NBA teams "modernized" their logos and the results were universally just horrible -- the Pistons, the Wizards, the Rockets. They all reverted to the old look a few years later.

 

A lot of that started across all sports - it seems to me - with the Denver Broncos.

 

What’s interesting is when the same design firm is hired for all of them. Same outfit had a contract to do Va, NC State, UNC et al 20 years ago.
