I guess it depends on how you look at it and what you believe. Sin entered the world through Adam. The portal of suffering thus opened, in a sense.

I can't speak to every other religion, though.

Sorry, but no. I'm talking about suffering that is not related to any sin. You're just veering into "The lord works in mysterious ways." That's not an honest attempt to understand. It is just faith, which is fine, but it's not part of a rational discussion.

Well, again, it depends on what you believe, but there wasn't any suffering before "the fall." The difference between Genesis 2 and 3, so to speak.

That argument is basically we all deserve to suffer at the almighty's whim because of the fall.

It's what the thing says, man. I don't personally like it. Job doesn't like what happens to him, either. It just what it says. Do with it what you will. We aren't designed to be physically compatible with all but the smallest sliver of the universe, either. Jupiter just is.

If you're a Christian, Jesus took the transactional aspect of grace out of the equation. This means being deserving of suffering or not isn't a reflection of whether you are loved in the divine sense. It also means the onus of being a good person or not is a matter of free will. So you're a good person or you aren't.
I prefer The Tobit, even though it's considered a semi-blasphemous midrash in some circles. As was the case with "Good Omens," the angels got all the good lnes.

I realize Falwell Jr. isn't a preacher or whatever - he's a bidnessman/lawyer - but you would think someone who runs a large Baptist University would not be attending a costume party mocking people who live in trailer parks aboard a luxurious yacht off the coast of Greece.
Photo appears to show Jerry Falwell Jr. with zipper down and arm around a woman

I guess I'm surprised that you haven't heard much from the evangelicals about COVID-19 is a sign of God's wrath or somesuch. They're usually a little quicker with the trigger.

That's because too many of them are getting the virus after attending parties in the Ozarks or church on Sunday in Bumfuck, Georgia. It's not hitting gay people in New York, San Francisco or LA. It's too close to home and they're not sure what to make of it.
