Every time I opened this thread I was afraid it would be an announcement that the season had been canceled. I am very happy to say...

    HAPPY OPENING DAY EVERYONE!!!!!

They pipe in crowd news generated from the FIFA video game franchise. They do not superimpose digitally rendered images of fans in the stands, though.

    F baseball.

Gobert tested positive and the world shuts down.
Soto tests positive and they pull him from the lineup

I will say that basketball has a lot more close and direct contact. But I'm still waiting for MLB to say something. So far, they're unwilling to disrupt their game between two of their Favored Few.

One thing that was as troubling to me as the Soto diagnosis was the Red Sox shutting down Eduardo Rodriguez indefinitely. Rodriguez had been back with the Red Sox for about a week after clearing the protocols to return from COVID. This isn't taking more time to get ready before joining the team. This is shutting down for an undetermined amount of time due to complications from the virus.

Playing this season looks like a worse and worse idea all the time.

83 mph! I don't think my shoulder would allow me to throw a baseball 83 feet, let alone with velocity.

The concern in baseball is not the field of play, but rather the clubhouse.
