I believe a few of the Arizona schools shut down their football programs in the past year or two, due to money issues. Scottsdale and Mesa CCs come to mind.

And for what it's worth, Scottsdale's Fighting Artichokes nickname is one of the best in college sports.

Oh wow, I hadn't realized that. Arizona Western played for three national titles in the 2010s (including in 2017, the year before they shut down football), and I think Mesa was ranked pretty regularly.

Need them to step up a level and play an exhibition against Division II Delta State, a.k.a., the Fighting Okra.

The Fighting Okra of Delta State would like a word with you, sir or ma'am.

I live in Texas, and I can name zero junior colleges with football teams. Maybe it's because there are none in my part of the state, however. I can name one with a rodeo team: Hill College.

Blinn is the one I think of. Mostly because of Cam Newton.

The Sugar Beeters of Chinook (Mont.) High School are unimpressed by those boxing gloves.

In important G5 news, my alma mater got what is these days described as a "hard commit" (LOL) from Ty Keyes, a four star QB from Mississippi with P5 offers. It's Tulane's first four-star commit since ratings began, Matt Forte and J.P. Losman were three stars. A good sign of progress by Willie Fritz.

    Once he signs.

I know Ranger College only because that was where Boobie Miles landed.
