I saw this on a USC blog yesterday (the blog was stolen from Jon Wilner, so it is probably accurate). If football happens, UCLA will open its season on Sept. 19 against Cal at Berkeley and will play host to USC on Sept. 26 at the Rose Bowl. UCLA faces its two biggest rivals in the first two games of the season. The reason is, the Pac-12 wants to start off with teams in close proximity and the easiest travel. Kinda makes sense.

There are other ways to do that than to have USC-UCLA in September. They could play the Arizona schools, but by doing that, perhaps they will start off with Utah/Colorado playing the Arizona schools. And the Washington and Oregon schools playing each other.

They're playing 10 games instead of the round-robin 11 in which they could eliminate the stupid divisions.

I can't commit to the accuracy of this but there is a pretty hot rumor that if the SEC goes to the 10+1 system they will open with Alabama-Georgia on Sept. 12.

UPDATE: They eliminated the Plus-One and smartly just moved back the season a few weeks.

I might pay real money to see Lee Corso in a full-body condom.

First time since 1924 that Georgia won't play Georgia Tech* (the 1943 and 1944 games are disputed by UGA as "no-contests" due to losing ... losing students to WW2 .. but yeah, losing).

First time since 1957 that Florida and Florida State won't meet.

Gonna miss those all-important November clashes this year.

    UT Martin-Alabama
    Massachusetts-Auburn
    New Mexico State-Florida
    Troy-Tennessee
    Wofford-South Carolina
    Georgia Southern-Mississippi
    Louisiana-Missouri
UL Monroe-Arkansas (likely would have made UL Monroe bowl eligible after a layup win)
    Louisiana Tech-Vanderbilt
    Alabama A&M-Mississippi State
