    Actually, Harold Varner III finished at -3 and is pretty much guaranteed a top 30 finish.

    Something I hadn't really thought of until now. Without crowds stomping down the rough around the ropes for four days, these guys are getting deeper but maybe more consistent leaves when they've gotten wild. Certainly they aren't getting any hardpan lies.

    Not enough course marshals to tamp down all that rough. There's no gift lies because wayward drives landed somewhere in the gallery.

    Thank goodness this isn't a U.S. Open with no fans. Given the USGA's excessively punitive approach, multiple marshals would end up on milk cartons.
