The Presidents are keenly aware of the significant health issues. They have lawyers and insurance companies in their ear.

The flip side is a football coach (who is 6-12 in conference) who says he wants to coach football.

Scott Frost is not a party to the discussion.

Here's what I want to know about this #WeWantToPlay movement: Are the players now willing to sign liability release waivers?
Should they be required to sign such a document if they claim everything's just fine and assumption of risk is part of daily life?
Lastly: Wouldn't any plaintiff have a hard time in litigation if a suit is predicated on proving the precise origin of his or her COVID infection?

Whenever this ends, I hope somebody writes the definitive tick-tock timeline of how it all unfolded.

I would love to know the moment they realized the train was headed for them. Everyone involved in football clearly thought the virus would be a distant memory by the fall. At some point they realized they were wrong and had absolutely no idea what to do next.

I don't recall seeing this go past.

How’s that going to work with sports?

"In addition, there will not be any University-sponsored travel during the fall semester, including for registered student organizations."
That's pretty unequivocal. Nothing in there about athletics. One of two things about this statement is true:
    1) It was made with the knowledge of athletics, which knows there will be no sports and did not push back.
    2) It was made without consultation of athletics, which will have to push back ASAP and encourage some new language.

Take it or leave it. But it’s about more than safety.

I’m guessing a large number of people who want football come hell or high water have been the COVID-deniers all along. But if they hadn’t fought the science and the health safeguards, bitched about masks, and flocked to the beach and lake resorts, it might not be an issue. And I blame everyone from Trump to southern governors to the college kids holding COVID parties — which, speaking of claiming football players are safer on campus, how long before more than a few get infected at some off-campus rave.

COVID parties are not really a thing.
