Any team that would have won the lottery would have the idiots calling conspiracy. Happens every year.

And the same shit response from you. I had a 12.5% chance of being right, except the odds were much better because it was NY. Oh, who won the Hughes lottery last year? The Devils. Some conspiracy theories have some validity.

Oh bullshit. Go back through the fucking years and explain each one. It’s whiny, clueless horseshit.

You say Betman let the Rangers into the playoffs, do you think Bettman made this decision on his own? It was voted on by all 31 teams and the PA. And since you have the conspiracy nailed down, how do you figure this happens without one of these owners calling him out in it? I mean surely if Chris Long in Orange County is on to them I have a feeling these billionaires might be able to figure it out.

The league is stronger, more attractive, when New York is good. New York draws attention. That is easy to figure out. Bettman knows where his bread is buttered. Of course, I have no proof. But it just figured to happen, and it did.
If NYR didn't win the lottery, Toronto would have. And I heard that the Maple Leafs pingpong ball was heading for the victory tube, but hit the post and bounced away.

If the fix has been in, why did it take 55 years for the Rangers to get the top pick?

So the other owners are in on this?

I am not worried about them trading him. But I am fully prepared for David Quinn to put him on the fourth line for 9 minutes a game next to Brett Howden and Michael Haley while I pull my remaining hair out for a season or two.

Having Lafreniere on an entry level contract is going to be huge for them. They have salary cap decisions coming up. Tony DeAngelo earned a pay day this year, and Ryan Strome had an "Artemi Panarin made me look way better than I am" season and is probably going to be asking for at least $5 million a year on a long-term deal.

I hope the Strome dilemma does not trip them up, because the Rangers are now flush with wingers, but after Zibanejad, their centers are iffy. Lias Anderson was a bust. I love Brett Howden, and he would be an ideal fourth line center. They will probably give Chytil another try at center. But who else? Strome is fine, but he's not going to be fine at $5 million or $5.5 million a year. That is way too much for him, in my opinion. I was actually hoping they could have found someone to buy high at the trade deadline, but they were thinking playoffs because the team was playing well.

Their top 6 wingers next year should be: Panarin, Kreider, Buchnevich, Chytil (if he isn't playing center), Kakko, Lafrieniere. That is a pretty nice group. I watched Morgan Barron play a lot in college, and he has the size and speed to potentially make the jump, so I think he could make the team next year. They were thinking winger for him, because he is a power forward type of player, but he played center in college, so who knows? Jesper Fast will still be around probably. Brendan Lemeiux also if they can agree to terms. And Julian Gauthier. So their wings are pretty much set unless they decide to go crazy trading.

This may have been discussed way-back-when, but did Ottawa in its wildest dream visualize the pick they got from San Jose being No. 3 overall?

Good question - I imagine they were banking on a pick in the 20-25 range.

No, that trade has worked out remarkably wel for the Sens. Norris is still a promising prospect.

Karlsson is a mercurial talent but has significant wear and tear at this point. Tremendous player and competitor, but a bit of a weird guy. That whole Instagram kerfuffle was very strange.

And more of a reflection on Hoffman and his girlfriend than Karlsson and his wife considering what they went through.

Might as well make some picks:
    EAST
    Flyers in 5
    Lightning in 6
    Caps in 7
    'Canes in 6

    WEST
    Knights in 5
    Avs in 6
    Flames in 7
    Blues in 7
