Oh, come on. They played an ass third period, but they aren't getting swept. Ovechkin was the definition of passenger today, though. If he doesn't get his head out of his ass, Washington has no chance to advance.

I feel like they never came back from quarantine.

And if 19 misses any time ....

Speaking of playing an ass third period. Jesus. Arizona's net minder is being made to look silly.

Just throw Connor McMichael in there. What do you have to lose? Ha.

Also, to add, I didn't have much in the way of expectations for this postseason even in March. Defense was way too soft and contributions from some stars too erratic. Holtby is going to lose himself some money if he plays this way, and the Caps have no choice to ride him because the backup has never played a minute in the NHL.

This is all to say, I'll be disappointed if this team goes out in the first round, but not angry/upset as in years past. I am further and further convinced that Rierdan is not the guy for this job, though. Felt that way for large stretches of the regular season.

Took the NHL mere hours to fine Rod Brind'Amour $25,000 for blasting the officiating in Game 1.

Anyone else see Carey Price tonight?

Yup. If he keeps playing like this, Philly will not have an easy series.

Then again, Price's play got three Pittsburgh assistant coaches fired and JR (Jim Rutherford, not our esteemed poster) sounds kinda fired up to make more changes.

I turned the game on a few minutes before Colorado's first goal. I didn't see the shot total for the period (ESPN only has a basic box score that isn't broken down by period).

EDIT: I just found it on NBCSN. Three goals in 1:13 and 12 shots for the period.

It was a completely lopsided game for the Avalanche. Kuemper kept it 0-0 until the Coyotes caved in at the end.

Price was fantastic, so was Hart.

Team officials can't criticize the refs, but Brind'Amour was justified in being pissed. Mrazek had his glove over the puck. There should have been a whistle, but there wasn't. Ritchie took a whack at the glove. The puck came loose and went to a teammate, who scored.

That was a weird left turn from Avs-Coyotes to the Hurricanes

Just commenting on several posts upthread. I watched a ton of hockey today. Hard to keep it all straight.
